somehow my measurements aren't translating to the graph paper!
allegedly, one square foot equals one square on the paper. but the walls aren't lining up. i'm pissed!
i've drawn the first floor over three times already. it's now dawning on me that the squares on this paper i bought may not be the same as the ones in the book i was using.
it's no wonder i can't hang pictures straight. i'll go home tonight and figure out what the problem is.

code blue -- or more specifically, cerulean
welcome to 311, a work in progress that you will get to watch.
we know it's a place that has potential. we could see it from the first time we laid eyes on the place, coveting the dramatic dome outside our door before the previous tenant had a chance to finish packing.
but two months into our lease, it doesn't feel lived in. it hasn't lived up to its potential as cozy, inviting and the place we thought we'd regularly be entertaining our friends and colleagues with wine, witty banter and pasta.
more regularly, we entertain each other. with wine. but an overdose of hgtv has inspired me to believe that it's not too late for our place to feel like our home.
to this day, friends who visit my childhood home comment immediately on how warm and inviting it is. i'm jealous.
here's hoping my mother's talent for decorating is inherited.
